KAYSERİ APPLICATION AND RESEARCH CENTER (KAYHAM)
History
With the regulation of the Kayseri Application and Research Center (KAYHAM) published in the Official Gazette dated 01 February 2021 and numbered 31382, the activities of the Kayseri Research and Application Center and the History and Kayseri and Neighboring Areas Researches Center began to be carried out within the structure of KAYHAM.
The center was rise from the fact that there was no Kayseri Specialized Library in Kayseri, and was established to gather the publications that have been written about Kayseri until today and will be written from now on, in one center. In this purpose, KAYHAM provides documentation, librarianship and statistical information services.
Within KAYHAM, there are a specialized library where local and foreign publications on Kayseri are collected, a statistical database, and an archive containing visual and audio resources (photographs, videos, microfilms, etc.).
In addition, documents such as military and civil correspondence documents belonging to the pre-Republican period, population, real estate, land and dividend books belonging to Kayseri and its region were brought to the center from the Regional Directorate of Foundations through the Rectorate of Erciyes University. These documents contain information from the administrative, social, cultural and economic history of Kayseri for nearly two centuries.
The foundations of KAYHAM are Erciyes University Kayseri Memory Center Project, which was supported within the scope of the European Union local development grant program implemented under the responsibility of Erciyes University. The project was implemented between 01 December 2006 and 30 November 2007.
The existing stakeholders of the center, which has been operating on the basis of partnership since its establishment; Kayseri Governorship, Kayseri Chamber of Industry and Kayseri Chamber of Commerce. In addition, with the signing of the "Protocol for Creating an Audio-Visual Archive of Kayseri" between Erciyes University and Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality on 14 October 2016, cooperation with Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality was initiated.
